For a conservative country like ours , bridal boudoir used to be  something a bride-to-be  won't even consider doing . But until recently , this genre is becoming increasingly popular . A lot of open minded Filipinas are having interest in doing an intimate photo session for a number of reason . Usually  as a gift in a form of photo books to their future husbands and some to preserve for posterity the vitality of their youth. Whatever the reason is , it is an art form and should not be confused with pornography . 

Boudoir is a  french word for a lady's private sitting room or dressing room. In terms of photography , it is an intimate photo session with a bride in lingerie . The idea here is that the bride is in preparation of wearing her wedding dress . Therefore it should not be considered lewd or indecent . 

Karen is not really a bride-to-be . She is a model who agreed to do this themed  shoot with us . But I think everyone can do boudoir . You don't need a perfect body to pose and show off. It's not about emulating  a lingerie catalogue but rather loving your own body and being proud of it :)

I pitched this idea to our MUA , Macy,  about a theme using sugar and candies as makeup a few months back . But due to conflict of schedule with the model plus Macy's vacation to the US , we were able to do the shoot only last weekend.  At least it gave us time to prepare and do some research on what materials to use for the makeup.

For this photoshoot , I used a 100 mm f /2.8 macro lens. Getting this close calls for a lens that will at least give you a little distance from the model. This lens is sharp ! And I wonder why I didn't  use this lens on portraits as well aside from macro/close up photography. 

We also had to consider the model who will work for us on this project.  Fortunately we were able to get Rochelle or 'Chie' to her friends . A critical nurse by profession , this former Miss Earth hopeful was really a trouper . She did not complain even if some of the sugar crystals were irritating her eye already. 

Chie is a very talented young lady. A model, writer and a very good singer !
